Welcome to the Island Bible Study!
The Island Bible Study is a way to share with our friends the exciting lessons we are learning from studying the Bible. Under our Lessons/Lecture Page you will find the study questions and online lectures by Donna F. Green. We invite each of you to attend the Island Bible Study in person at the Island Chapel on Tierra Verde, Florida. We meet each Sunday morning at 9 a.m. and would love to have you join us when you are in the Tampa Bay area.
Our goal is to have each of you grow in your relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in a very personal and practical way. As we grow in our knowledge of the Bible, it becomes more alive and relevant to our daily lives.
We will feature Donna's lessons and hope that you will find them a blessing in your personal bible study. Lessons will soon be available for purchase to be used for a group study. If you have any questions about these lessons, please email us at contact@islandbiblestudy.com.
How the Island Bible Study Works!
The Island Bible Study uses the Thayer Method of teaching to increase your understanding of the scriptures. It is adapted from the method used to teach the Cadets at the United States Military Academy at West Point. (See the "About Us" page to see why this is really important to Donna.) The professors at West Point assign the material in advance that is to be read and studied before coming to class in order for each student to be prepared and ready to discuss the assignment when they arrive in class. Using this method, each week we will post daily scripture readings and questions that are to be answered before coming to class or viewing the lecture. We encourage our class not to use study notes or commentaries before class in order to let the Holy Spirit speak to the individual through the scripture rather than through someone else's ideas.
